Rock Hardscapes has extensive experience installing Redi-Rock and other segmental retaining wall systems on both residential and commercial sites in the Gulf Coast area, including Mobile, Pensacola, and Baldwin County.  

Segmental retaining walls are a cost-effective and attractive option suitable for a wide range of types and scales of projects.  A segmental retaining wall is built of modular masonry units that are stacked or interlocked without mortar.  Segmental retaining walls generally rely upon their own weight for stability and strength.  Gravity walls of this type often require no reinforcement.  Being modular, they are relatively quick and easy to install, yet they offer incredible design flexibility and are exceptionally durable. 

In addition to commercial and residential projects, Rock Hardscapes can engineer segmental retaining walls for mines and quarries.

Rock Hardscapes has designed and built MSE walls as parts of DOT and municipal projects along the Gulf Coast.  

Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) walls are composite retaining walls composed of layers of compacted backfill and soil reinforcements attached to a wall facing.  The friction and tension between the backfill and reinforcements give the MSE wall its strength, while the wall facing prevents erosion and determines the appearance of the wall. The specific materials chosen for each component vary from wall to wall.  An engineer selects the appropriate combination for each project, guided by site characteristics, relative durability of materials, budget, and desired aesthetics.  

An MSE wall is very stable, capable of supporting heavy loads and withstanding great forces.  MSE walls are versatile, ideal for locations too tight for heavy machinery, but they can also be built to extreme dimensions and heights.
